How does Digimed telemedicine work?

Add convenience to patients by using Digimed tools

Telemedicine is the term used to describe health-related services that are distributed electronically. Traditionally, it aims to improve efficiency, and quality of care by providing care to patients via video, audio, or text chat.

However, Digimed takes things one step by offering a more holistic approach to telemedicine. Digimed offers a robust teleconsultation platform, whilst incorporating electronic health records (also capturing in-clinic consultation data), e-prescriptions, sick leave certificates, medical notes, and referrals. 

Doctors may also gain access to their patients’ full medical history, even when they visit another Digimed practitioner.

Create an account

Start your digital journey with Digimed

Signing up is quick and easy, via website or by downloading smartphone application on Google Play or Apple App Store. Your account will be secured with multi-factor verification and authentication.

The app will guide you through a simple Identity Verification process.

Healthcare professionals will be asked to upload certain documents to prove their academic and professional credentials as per below.

Registered Doctors:
If you’re a registered doctor, the system will prompt you to upload the following:

  • Certificate of Registration with the Maltese Medical Council/Associations
  • Medical council registration number
  • CV
  • Selection of specialisation

 

Allied Professionals:
For allied professionals, the system will request:

  • Registration document from the appropriate Professional Council or equivalent reputable body (if applicable)
  • Certification number (if available) and year of certification
  • Selection of specialisation

Start seeing patients

Once your account has been completed, you can immediately begin using Digimed’s Patient Management System and telemedicine features!

If you are offering telemedicine consultations, you will start receiving consultation requests based on your schedule.

Before each consultation, you will be able to review your patient’s existing Electronic Health Records as well as their Health Profile on Digimed.

Take advantage of Digimed’s secure communication platform – no more phone calls and text messages to discuss your patients’ medical issues.

Post consultation process

Manage your patients’ health records through the ‘Patient Management System’, improving your workflow and saving you enough time to see more patients.

Digimed will guide you through a simple Electronic Health Record/medical report form for each online or in-person consultation recorded on the system.

EHRs may be added to an existing diagnosis (case) on the patient’s file, or a new case may be opened.

Cases may also be marked as chronic.

EHR report forms include multiple templates designed to streamline your workflow depending on the treated medical condition.

Digimed has an integrated e-prescription system allowing you to prescribe single or ongoing prescriptions.

As an added feature for patients holding a Digimed Premium account, the system will also recognise the dosage and frequency prescribed and guide the patient with reminders when it is time to take their medicine.

These reminders will commence when patients first present their e-prescription at any Digimed pharmacy partner.

Encourage your patients to upgrade to Digimed Premium to take advantage of its amazing healthcare features.

Through Digimed, referral forms can be compiled as part of your post-consultation workflow in a streamlined process.

Sick leave certificates may also be easily created, signed digitally, and exported to the patient.

Digimed has automated the insurance claim form process.

Digimed Premium patients who are clients of any Digimed insurance partner may export an existing Electronic Health Record as a structured claim form.

This means that doctors will have less paperwork.

This feature will allow patients to search for Doctors available for an immediate telemedicine consultation. You can easily control when you are online or offline to accept requests, or otherwise, as well as amend your fees, in your Settings.

This feature will allow patients to book telemedicine consultations with you, using your programmed schedule/booking calendar. You may amend your fees, schedule, or create new/multiple schedules at any time in your Settings.

Some patients will still prefer a Home Visit from their doctors. Digimed can facilitate this by showing patients a list of doctors available for a Home Visit as they require it. You may set and amend your availabilities and fees for home visits, as well as maximum distance from your location at any time in your Settings.
